I am a doula and postnatal doula in and around London. I am also a keen advocate for the benefits of antenatal preparation for informed decision making and for mother-centred continuity of care through the golden month of early parenting.
I feel keenly that the experience of covid presents very real challenges for new mums, many of whom will have had to birth their babies in difficult or unexpected environments.
Listening to your story, offering a safe space, either online or in person to debrief and engage with the challenges you face is one important way in which I seek to offer you relief and support.
I also practice in the hope of finding positives that will continue to inspire and encourage new mums to reconnect post-lockdown, and equally to find quiet and restful ways to shelter, nest and find peace at home with your new baby.
I live with my French husband and three teen children between Herne Hill and Brixton where our community is strong and engaging even in this current crisis.
In my own time, I thrive on daily walks through the green spaces of London and beyond, outdoor swimming, peaceful moments with a good book, pilates, community, friends and family. Being there for you as a new mother also brings me joy!
Whatever the unique set up that characterises your situation, the support I can offer you comes with the combined knowledge and experience of being both a mother and a certified doula and there is much that can be done to help with the practicalities of the early months with a new baby so you feel confident to build up your family, your way.
